Parents

In the process of learning, the teachers, parents and child are viewed as collaborators.   In the Reggio approach the parent is viewed as an essential resource to the child's learning.   The exchange of ideas between parents and teachers is vital in creating a more positive and productive learning environment.  Reggio teachers take into account the needs and desires of the parents and strive to help them in bettering their child's education. For instance, a Reggio teacher noticed many parents expressing concern that their child was not sleeping well, so the school brought in a professional to speak with parents and provide helpful suggestions. 

Community

Reggio schools were founded and supported by a community that wanted to provide a new way of learning for children.  Present day Reggio schools still maintain that tradition by creating an environment where there is constant dialogue between parents, teachers, administrators and elected officials. There is an expectation in Reggio schools that teachers are active participants within the community and work to provide community members with information and updates of what is occurring within the classroom.
